30. San Diego Padres (5-14)
The bullpen, Anthony Bass and Corey Luebke are very good. Other than that, not a lot going on in San Diego.
29. Houston Astros (7-12)
Jose Altuve, Jordan Schafer and JD Martinez all look like players to build around for the future. Schafer has been on base in all 19 games.
28. Oakland A's (10-10)
Cespedes may be a force to be reckoned with, and Jarrod Parker had a spectacular debut. The future is coming soon in Oakland.
27. Pittsburgh Pirates (8-10)
Pedro Alvarez has 7 hits, 4 are HRs. The pitching can't stay this good for long.
26. Minnestoa Twins (5-14)
They lost a few close games to Boston, but this team is really struggling. Josh Willingham is the only one to fear in the lineup right now.
25. Kansas City Royals (5-14)
They are above .500 on the road. This team is too talented to stay bad for long.
24. Chicago Cubs (6-13)
Moving Marlon Byrd means Brett Jackson will be patrolling CF in the near future. If they can trick somebody to take Alfonso Soriano or Geovany Soto I may be the happiest Cub fan in the world.
23. Seattle Mariners (10-10)
The offense came alive in a 3 game sweep of Detroit. Ichiro looks to be back to form.
22. Baltimore Orioles (11-7)
Matt Wieters is on a absolute tear. I should get some kind of award for picking up Jason Hammel.
21. Miami Marlins (7-11)
18 games and still no homers for Giancarlo. Heath Bell has been a disaster. This ship is sinking fast.
20. Colorado Rockies (9-9)
Jaime Moyer leads the team in ERA. Let that sink in for a moment. Drew Pomeranz looked much better in his second start allowing only 2 runs against Milwaukee.
19. New York Mets (11-8)
Losing Mike Pelfrey for the year might actually help the Mets rotation. As long as Johan Santana stays healthy this team may stay in the hunt for a while.
18. Cleveland Indians (9-8)
Derek Lowe is having a resurgence in pitchers friendly Progressive Field. Jack Hannahan is off to a good enough start to keep Lonnie Chisenhall in AAA for some time.
17. Cincinnati Reds (9-10)
I wouldn't be worried about Sean Marshall's blown save today. I would be worried about Scott Rolen in general, and Joey Votto not hitting a HR since April 7th.
16. Los Angeles Dodgers (13-6)
11 of their 13 wins have been against the Astros, Padres, and Pirates. This team isn't as good as they pretend to be. Matt Kemp is impressive however.
15. Chicago White Sox (10-8)
Paul Konerko hit his 400th career HR in Oakland this week. Hall of Famer? Phillip Humber's perfect game continues to prove how good I am at picking pitchers.
14. Philadelphia Phillies (9-10)
Roy Halladay walked three straight batters in San Diego for the first time in his career. How the hell is that possible? The offense is starting to pick up. Watch out for Hunter Pence to have a big next couple of months.
13. San Francisco (10-9)
Pablo Sandoval and Buster Posey are tearing the cover off the ball. Lincecum looked much better in his last start.
12. Boston Red Sox (7-10)
The offense is clicking but the bullpen is a mess. Cody Ross and David Ortiz have put this team on their back.
11. Los Angels Angels (6-13)
Eventually this offense will click. C.J. Wilson looked very good in his last start with 11 K's.
10. Milwaukee Brewers (9-10)
Corey Hart is leading the Crew in every offensive category. Once Braun and Aramis Ramirez turn it on this team will be dangerous.
9. Toronto Blue Jays (10-8)
Kyle Drabek and Henderson Alvarez have been fantastic. Lind, Bautista, and Arencibia are all struggling but once they right the ship they have a shot at contending if the pitching holds.
8. Arizona Diamondbacks (9-10)
I'm not ready to give up on this team. Getting Justin Upton back healthy is a huge boost. Injuries have crippled the snakes so far and Josh Collmenter and his 9.82 ERA have been horrible. Trevor Bauer should be in the rotation sooner rather than later
7. Atlanta Braves (12-7)
Imagine how good this team could be if Jair Jurrjens figures his shit out. Brandon Beachy, Jonny Venters and Craig Kimbrel have been spectacular. Freddie Freeman is poised to have a monster season.
6. Washington Nationals (14-4)
Their starters went 26 straight innings without giving up a run. Ryan Zimmerman is ailing and Mike Morse is not returning in the near future. They need Adam LaRoche to keep hitting.
5. St. Louis Cardinals (12-7)
Kyle Lohse continues to prove I have the best starting pitching staff with no pick before the 15th round. Allen Craig is knocking on the door of a return. Lance Lynn is 4-0 with a 1.33 ERA giving up one run in all 4 games. I'm not saying the 2005 Connersville Spartans are as good as any major league team's, but we did manage to score the same amount of runs against him as the Brewers, Pirates, and Cubs twice.
4. New York Yankees (10-8)
Losing Michael Pineda for the whole season hurts. Andy Pettitte coming back is now huge. You can;t rely on Freddie Garcia and Phil Hughes for a full season.
3. Detroit Tigers (10-9)
They need Doug Fister back in a huge way. Porcello and Scherzer have been awful. Drew Smyly has been solid but the pitching has let the Tigers down. Miguel Cabrera is dropping bombs but he hasn't even caught fire yet.
2. Tampa Bay Rays (12-7)
It doesn't make sense but the Rays keep on winning. They swept the Angels and travel to Texas now as their grueling early season schedule continues. According to my power rankings they have played the numbers 3, 4, 9, 11, 12, and 26 so far, traveling to play #1 this weekend.
1. Texas Rangers (15-4)
Josh Hamilton is the best player on the planet, Matt Kemp be damned. Mike Napoli is off to a torrid start as well. Joe Nathan is still the only question mark for me.
